I went out in rare form last night – with Allison and her tall, blonde friend Jenny, and Robbie Roommate and his awesome sister who is visiting from Jacksonville. I was feeling annoyed, frustrated, jealous, fat, unfashionable, a little irritated and extremely determined to be fun and have a good time. After trying on 12 outfits involving way too many lacey shirts, I decided to wear layered black and white tank tops, a crazy belt buckle, jeans and my best no-I-promise-I-think-we’re-going-to-have-an-awesome-time smile (even though we were on our way to an 18-and-up dance club).

In college, during sorority recruitment week, our advisors always told us the stupidest thing. “Fake it till you make it!” they would say. They would say it over and over again every January and I never listened to them. Maybe I should have tried it sooner than last night because after a few songs and a few drinks, I was dragging Robbie Roommate’s sister up on stage to dance on a buffet table for a free Jell-O shot. I suddenly realized that I could still party like a rock star even though I have a real job now, and then I actually started to have fun! At Have A Nice Day Cafe! (The last time I went there on College Night it was just dreadful.)

It’s funny, I thought I was going to have an awful time and be the most boring person there, but I definitely met a few cute boys, scored a bunch of free drinks, and even gave my number to two people that already called!

After we got home, everyone went to bed and I stayed up talking to Robbie’s sister at the dining room table until 3 a.m. She’s awesome. I hope she comes to visit again soon because we had tons of fun.

I guess the moral of this whole story is that lacey shirts don’t do it for me. I’d much rather go out looking like a rock star – or at least like I could kick someone’s ass.
