Oh, hello sitting down on the couch and relaxing. Nice to see you. It’s been a little while.

I was torn about how I was going to spend this beautiful Saturday — I was either going to attend the annual Exchange Club party (aka “drinking in a field”) or…not. Obviously, since I am sitting on my patio writing in this blog, I went with not.

I’ve been trying to track down this song for over a year. Every time I Google it, I find pretty much nothing. Tonight when I Googled it, I found my tweet I sent to JD Spradlin about it last February. That’s silly.

Anyway, I heard this song on Radio Margaritaville for the first time in awhile this morning, and it became clear to me immediately how I was going to spend this lovely Saturday. I was going to relax all day and then hang out drinking margaritas by myself while listening to the Jimmy Buffett concert broadcast live from West Palm Beach on Radio Margaritaville via the TuneIn Radio app on my phone. Done.

Oh, and I finally found the song. It needs a YouTube video, but this will have to do for now.

It feels like springtime so much this weekend. I know we’ll probably have another cold spell (or two) before it’s springtime for real, but there are only two weeks until Daylight Savings Time begins and less than five weeks until my Hawaii trip, so that makes it close enough for me. With the temperature change, my weekend walking on the beach has finally shifted gears to running, and this is my current favorite tune to run to.

I’m pretty sure this song is about drugs, but since I don’t do drugs, it just kind of reminds me of actual chocolate. And maybe of doing silly, rebellious things. And isn’t springtime the perfect time for that?

Scallops + Sand Dollars

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer. Shoes: Audrey Brooke via DSW. Belt: Lilly Pulitzer. Bag: Vintage St. John via Allan & Suzi in Asbury Park, NJ.

Tomorrow is National Wear Your Lilly Day, so I figured I’d post a few photos of this dress and belt I picked up last weekend to wear to our friends’ wedding. In all honesty, I ventured into Ocean Palm last Saturday looking for a belt to wear with this dress, but…light blue sand dollar print eyelet? I couldn’t resist. Although, after this last Lilly splurge (which included this belt, this belt and this skort), I’m going to take a little break from shopping until at least my next visit to NJ.

The wedding was beautiful, and I took lots more photos. I’ll share them once I’ve had a chance to go through them all.

Happy first day of summer tomorrow! Do something fun! (And enter my sunglasses giveaway here!)

tahari jacket forever 21 dress

Dress: Forever 21 (similar). Jacket: Tahari (thrifted, last seen here, similar). Shoes: BCBG (old, similar). Bag: Tory Burch. Sunglasses: Ray-Ban. Necklaces: Lia Sophia, Max & Chloe. Bracelets: Kate Spade, Alex + Ani, Lia Sophia, Ralph Lauren. Nails: Essie Mod Square.

Virginia Beach is the largest city in Virginia, but it doesn’t have much in common with well-known big cities like New York or San Francisco. That being said, we do have Town Center, which is our little version of a downtown. It’s been around for about 10 years, and it’s grown up a lot since I moved here. It’s even home to the tallest building in the state — the Westin VB Town Center. If I’m craving some city time, I head to Town Center on my lunch break. It’s an easy five-minute drive from my office, parking is free, and while it’s not hustling and bustling 24 hours per day, it does have one important thing that all cities should have — an amazing gelato place.

P.S. Thank you, Michelle, for taking my photos!

Fifteen years ago, I didn’t think there was much to my personal style. I mean, I had a ton of clothes, but I don’t remember being particularly fashionable or even caring much about it. I do recall, though, that I’ve always had a thing for Hawaiian prints and white sneakers. My collection of both blossomed between 1998 and 2004, but hasn’t seen much action since. So, you can imagine my delight that finally tropical prints are making a comeback. I love both this print and the updated style of the shirt, and I’ve been waiting years to fall for a new pair of white sneakers. To be reunited with new versions of my old favorite things makes me feel so much like me. =)
