Every summer, my best friend and her husband host an outdoor bash of epic proportions. It’s definitely the only party I get invited to that features an ice cream truck, six buffet tables full of food, a sculpted ice luge, fireworks, a water slide, live music and a raffle, that’s for sure. It’s always a blast, and a great opportunity for me to catch up with old friends an co-workers I wouldn’t normally see when I head up to NJ for a visit. =)

P.S. If you were at the party and you want to see the rest of the pictures, you can find them on my website. If you know Kristy and Frank, the password should be pretty easy to guess. =) I’ll get some of them up on Facebook soon, too.

Last weekend, Virginia Beach launched 2012’s series of summer events with the Patriotic Festival — a three-day celebration of our nation’s military featuring concerts on the beach, vendors along the boardwalk, and air shows over the Atlantic Ocean.

Last weekend was nothing short of amazing. I’ve seen air shows before, but never two days in a row over the ocean. =) On Saturday, I managed to finagle an invite from Heather to Sky Bar, which had to have been one of the best vantage points for snapping photos of the Blue Angels as they soared south past the Hilton towards the demonstration area over and over during their performance. Saturday night, J and I leisurely walked up and down the boardwalk, dodging the occasional rain drop and listening to the sounds of Steel Pulse coming from the stage on the sand at 5th Street. Sunday was another perfect beach day, and we biked to the Oceanfront to watch the Blue Angels again — this time at the water’s edge.

This year’s Patriotic Festival also kicked off 12 days of OpSail 2012 Virginia, which coincides this weekend with Norfolk’s annual Harborfest and the bicentennial of the War of 1812. I told you it was going to be a busy summer. =)

The Wedding

It seems like we’ve been planning and preparing and counting down the days until Tina and Harrison’s wedding for almost a year and half, and now that it’s over, I wish we could just go back and do it all over again. From a bachelorette weekend in Atlantic City to a shower in Richmond and a rehearsal dinner in Croatan, each event leading up to the big day has been even more fun than the last, and I’ve had a blast getting to know so many of Tina’s friends and family members over these last few months.

To Tina and JoAnn, I’m so flattered that you trusted me to be the day-of coordinator and bring your vision to life. To Tina and Harrison, I wish you endless happiness and a fabulous honeymoon in St. John. To all of you ladies I’ve gotten to know over the last few months, I hope you’ll keep in touch! And to whoever controls the weather, thank you for the perfect weekend. It was everything we could have hoped for and more.

Thank you so much to everyone for the birthday wishes, gifts, dinner, and especially my surprise brunch this morning! I might have been panicking a little about turning 30, but this was the best birthday ever! It was a weekend full of fun with family and friends old and new. I’ll post the rest of the photos once I sort through all of them, but for now, just…thanks. =) You guys are the best.
