holiday fun

Countdown to Halloween

There’s only one week left until my current second favorite holiday. I wore my black see-through spiderweb shirt to work to celebrate. (Don’t worry, I wore it under a blazer over a green cami with a conservative pleated skirt and my Diesel boots – it was only a little inappropriate, but not too bad.)

My costume finally arrived via FedEx this morning, and I used my lunch break to pick up some shoes to wear with it at Hot Topic. I was going to get red patent leather platforms, but they were too painful to walk in, so I opted for some knee-high, white patent leather boots…that lace up the back with a ribbon. What? They were on sale. I’m pretty sure my entire office probably thinks I’m moonlighting at Ocean’s Cabaret by now. Oh well.

I also picked up the new My Chemical Romance CD while I was at Hot Topic – it was on sale for $9.99. If you don’t know The Black Parade was released today, you obviously haven’t logged in to MySpace yet this afternoon. Get with the program. Go to Hot Topic. Get it. It’s awesome.

The Aerosmith concert rocked. Check out Laurie’s blog for the pics. Be sure to notice Steven Tyler in a chiffon leopard-print shirt paired with red leather pants. Sweetness.

It never hurts to start celebrating early.

Memorial Day weekend is supposed to be the kickoff to summer, and for once, the weekend itself is kicking off with a beautiful, hot, sunny day (here in Norfolk, at least).  I’m doing my best to get the holiday weekend off to a good start. This involves sitting at my desk sipping a mimosa out of a 12 oz. plastic cup.  What? It’s a holiday.  Besides, I only have two more hours of work.  I’m peacing out of this boring place at noon and heading to the train station in Richmond, where I will board an Amtrak train and travel to New Jersey in order to avoid the Garden State Parking Lot.  I’m looking forward to a weekend of partying at the Jersey Shore with a few of my favorite oldest friends, but five hours on a train?  Good lord.  I’d better go get another mimosa.

T is for Trouble

Sweet! I got my Tumi purse today. I was supposed to get it for Christmas, but Santa accidentally brought the wrong color, so I ordered it in the right color (Topaz) and it was delivered to my office this morning. It’s beautiful. I am in love.

UPS delivered it this morning. It was packaged in, not one, but two boxes. It was wrapped in plastic and paper, it had protective covers on all its metal parts and it came with three “Do Not Eat” packets! I’m sure my co-workers thought I was nuts when it arrived. They were probably thinking something along the lines of, “Wow, I haven’t seen this girl in a good mood for three months and now she’s melting over a damn purse!”

You know I’m not a logo whore (if I was, I would have just asked for a Coach purse for Christmas), but the Tumi purse does have T’s on it. But they’re Tumi T’s and they just look like a cool pattern.

Besides, T isn’t just for Tumi. T is for Trouble.

I’m finally getting a facial this afternoon – knocking out one more New Year’s resolution before the weekend – and then I’ll be packing and heading up to Jersey. This little girl will be partying it up New Year’s Eve in New York City.

And I’m back in the game. Rock star mode: activated.

Bah Humbug!

By holiday fun, memories, roommates, ruling at life 4 Comments

Last night Allison and I were driving home from York County, reminiscing about our old apartment. We miss our old aparment. Our new one smells funny all the time.

We remembered how we put up our Christmas tree on Robbie’s birthday last year while we cooked him dinner and baked him a cake. We remembered our “roommate date” to Shula’s 347 and the day we picked Robbie up from the airport after one of his trips out in the field for work. We remembered the night we had a dance party on our kitchen counter.

Then we remembered how we always used to find cool shit in the trash area – furniture, lamps, mirrors, etc. – so we decided to pull into our old apartment complex and take a peek.

Then we remembered how those bitches kicked us out and how miserable they made us.

So, we pulled up to the office and stole the crappy Christmas wreath that was hanging on their front door.

Serves you right, Banyan Grove. If you bitches want your wreath back, you can come get it off our living room wall.
