Twinkle, twinkle, little star…

You may be wondering what exactly I am doing up at 3:18 in the morning.  So am I.  For some reason, I’ve been getting to sleep at 4 or 5 a.m. and staying in bed until noon or 1:00.  It’s been this way for at least a week now, becoming a bad habit that I can’t seem to break.

I’ve read entire books and done countless sit-ups and push-ups during the hours between midnight and 4 a.m. for the past few days — the times I should have been sleeping.  I’ve written stories, drawn pictures, tried on old clothes and bathing suits, cleaned my room, downloaded music, organized my birthday collection, completed crossword puzzles, and read fashion magazines, but I can not seem to bore myself into falling asleep.

Being awake at 3:25 in the morning is somewhat frustrating.  There’s not much to do at this hour, and definitely no one to talk to.  If this doesn’t stop soon, I’m going to have to start listening to lullabies and popping Tylenol PMs before bed until I get back to a normal sleep schedule.

(That little star down there is going to be bobbing up and down smiling — I’m not.)
