This is the first photo I took with my new fisheye lens this morning! I got up extra early to go roam around on the beach and take photos of the sun rising up over the ocean. =)

I sprung for this Rokinon 8mm f3.5 Ultrawide Fisheye Lens last week during an Amazon Lightning Deal. I don’t know all that much about it yet because I’ve never shot with a fisheye before (and it’s the first completely manual lens I’ve owned since I was last shooting film in 2000), but it seems pretty decent, and I’m looking forward to learning how to use it over the next few weeks. =)

P.S. Check out this article for some great tips on capturing photos of fireworks this 4th of July! (If you’re into that sort of thing.)

Wow excellent photos! And as it turns out I will not be going to NJ so I will be available to see you guys in NH when you come up in July!

Thanks! Yay! Sorry I never wrote you back — I’m trying to plan this little road trip with my mom while up up there, but she’s being indecisive. =) You’re on my New Year’s Resolutions, though, and I’m determined to make it up there! I’m going to plan it out with her as soon as she gets back from Hawaii… =)

  • Looks like a beautiful morning. It looks like you are going to have a lot of fun with that lens as well.

Thanks!! I was thinking about getting one printed poster size and framing it to hang it in my hallway. =)

Now you’ve got me thinking maybe I should create a public gallery on my photography website where people can buy prints of stuff like this…
