Yesterday on Tropicana – A Short Screenplay (Edited)

By March 26, 2004 las vegas, ruling at life

This screenplay has been edited to better serve its purpose (and because I received a phone call about how stupid it was).

FADE IN:

EXT. – WEST TROPICANA AVE. – LATE AFTERNOON

A white Chevy Malibu approaches from the west.

CUT TO:

INT. – LISA’S MALIBU – SECONDS LATER

LISA is driving home from work. She hears a song on the radio and begins to sing along.

LISA (IN HER HEAD)

I guess this new job is okay. This song sounds familiar. I should download it.

LISA continues driving, tapping her hand on the steering wheel to the beat of the song.

LISA (IN HER HEAD)

Yeah, like it. Download it when I get home. Maybe I could get a job doing promotions for a radio station.

LISA pushes some buttons and changes the radio station several times.

CUT TO:

EXT. – INTERSECTION OF W. TROPICANA AND THE 215 – SECONDS LATER

LISA turns the car onto the 215 heading north.

CUT TO:

INT. – LISA’S MALIBU – SECONDS LATER

LISA (OUT LOUD)

What was the name of that song anyway?

LISA plays with the buttons some more and finds the song she was listening to earlier.

LISA (IN HER HEAD)

This does sound familiar. I wonder who it is. I really do need a real job. I will definitely have to download this as soon as I walk in the door. At least I can pick up my last check from the House of Blues tomorrow at one.

CUT TO:

EXT. – EXIT RAMP OFF THE 215 – SECONDS LATER

LISA exits onto Flamingo east toward Fort Apache. She turns left onto Fort Apache, left onto Katie, and left onto Bahia.

LISA (IN HER HEAD)

Awesome. Definitely download it. Maybe I should stop at 7-Eleven for a diet Dr. Pepper. I could win some free iTunes. Then I could download it for free. Nah, I should drink water.

(A short pause).

LISA (OUT LOUD)

Wait a minute. Is this Hoobastank? Duh, brain fart. Your ass already has this song on the computer and on a CD. You retard.

The song on the radio comes to an end.

LISA (OUT LOUD)

Dumbass.

FADE OUT.
